I have had many experiences in my life, but
in general I am an introvert and happy to let things pass by, because in my
view life is short and flailing at windmills is tiring and usually ineffective. But yesterday I did something I had never
done in my whole life; I joined 100,000 + people to march and protest against the
incoming president’s behavior, promised policies against women, minorities, along with his talk of lists of people he doesn’t like.
I am still working through how I feel about
the march; on one hand it was great to see all the support both women and lots
of men (glad I wasn’t the only male there 😎). But it also gave
me time to think as we peacefully marched through the streets of Seattle.
If Hilary won the popular vote (she did),
then why did our Democratic
congress members do so poorly, giving over the house and Senate to control of
the Republicans?
And why did 53%
of white women vote for Trump?
Why is our Media
so blinded by Trump that they are distracted from the import things. So he doesn’t have press conferences and they
seem to be searching for easy stories, by spending precious hours dissecting his
140-character Press conferences (Twitter).
I don’t know the answers, but for once in my
life I am concerned for our country’s place in history. I am hopeful we will survive and come out the
other end stronger, but if we continue to be distracted by the stupid things he
(or his minions) say and missing the other hand doing something really bad, well.
Not
sure where to go, just know I will continue to try to do the right things
in life, and stand up for those who can’t.
Not looking for a medal, or praise, just trying to process what is next…
